Ok, jump into the Way Back Machine (especially for some of you NationStates dinosaurs)......what were you like as a new NationStates player? I think I was kinda the stereotypical noob. I probably even made one of those hilarious "I will destroy all your nations!"posts. Heh. Embarassing really. Oh yeah, and I also tried to become the Rejected Realms delegate.

I was a complete idiot. I was living in the Pacific after Francos Spain took over from Theodoc. I was pretty much minding my own business and posting on the Civil HQ and asking what else do you do in the game other than merely answer the daily issues. I think it was Evilstocia who suggested that I could join the UN and endorse the delegate. I was totally oblivious to what was going on at the time.
I joined the UN and within minutes of applying I received a recruitment message from the RRA and asked if I wanted to join. I thought, "why not?" as I was still wondering what the hell the game was all about (in retrospect, this was quite a low point in my NS career!). Anyway, I was given a lot of rhetoric first about how bad the AA was, but then I heard how terrible the NPO was and how it "invaded" the Pacific and needed to be supplanted for the government in exile. I fervently did my job and was ejected quite a few times. After a while I began t-gramming Francos Spain and Bertram Stantrous and realized they were not the demons that everyone else in the RRA led me to believe. I began looking around closely and decided that the NPO was more in line with my own personal beliefs than what the RRA had.
So, moral of the story: The terrorists tend to go after the n00bs because they don't know any better. Honestly, if it weren't for the benevolence of Francos Spain and Bertram Stantrous, I'd probably not even be playing the game today. I think many other n00bs have bought into the lies and deceit of the terrorists, and I always hope that we can find a way to assuage that problem. That is why I like the idea of the governors here so that n00bs can have an opportunity to directly converse with us about our policies.

Oddly enough, I was still a n00b when my region, the Sardaukar Confederacy, hit 240 nations. At the time I had no idea what the whole political scene was between invaders and defenders... but, technically for a while there, the SC was in fact the largest invader region around... inadvertantly of course, because at the time we were ADN members and I was a Director of something or another I was pretty oblivious, but still compitent, lol

I was a n00b back in the old, old days. December 02... I couldn't even get on the forums until about February.

Forums were insane. I still remember the Pacifics having 20000 nations+ EACH.
I was pretty active fighting Invaders before there was such a thing as defenders. We never did it because we thought we must fight for right, just helping people out. No agenda, no accolades.
I really miss the old days before all the Mods and rules, was like the wild west. Oh well, progress.

Well let's see *walks in with walker and slowly sits down in a chair*
LR as a n00b, I started NS way over a year ago, I signed up because of a Poly Science Professor who was handing out extra credit for us to do so, so I created the nation, and just started checking things out and such.
Well I started when the ACC was at about it's strongest and also falling into it's weakest. Everyone was telling me how they were such bad guys, and such, but when I talked with FoCA, the then Delegate of The West Pacific, he was answering my stupid questions, and a few others came to my attention, Halmont being one of them that came out of no where.
Then the change to Norion as Delegate. He was as new as I was, just a couple of months older I think.
I suppose you could say I was chaty, still am for the most part, I tend to make friends easily, even in this setting, and I tend to also make foes as well, because I tend to stick to my word.
As I have said time and again, it is honor that shows through, even in a computer game.
Anyway, I was one of those ones that everyone seemed to want on their side, got the same sort of junk TM's about "join us we are the best of the best."
About the time I became Delegate of TSP was about the time I also joined the ACC, which was fun to say the least *evil smile* but I always said that TSP would be free, and I would not fly the ACC flag over LR therefore over TSP, when I lost the SC *Supreme Commander* postion by one vote, it came about that my hand was forced, I made my choice and left the ACC as a Lt. over Training.
So ya, even n00bs can have fun, so long as they know what is BS in NS and what is not...... ;D

When I was only a few days old, I made a post saying I'd be more than happy to fight against Francos. Two weeks later I joined the NPO and haven't regreted it since . BTW: I don't know what you consider a dinosaur, but I've been around since the beginning of November '03. I never really thought of myself as an old nation, but then I remember being around 200 million and seeing the "old" 750+ million nations. Now I'm at 1.5 billion and still feeling like a young nation. I wonder if that's the way it is when you get old in RL? BTW2: It would be interesting to see what everyone's populations are, too so we can get an idea of how long ago this was .

8 million. Heh heh. This is a newer nation of mine, so it has a small population.

Heh, I made my first nation and played it for a while before I got tired of the liberalness and hippy choices I made on issues... so I let that nation die and started another more authoritarian one, which is my main nation now. I took a look at the forums and was scared off by the amount of the stickies in there. So... I sat around in the Pacific for 7 months answering issues. Not exagerating. I got active in regional politics when my nation was... well... kicked out of the Pacific.
My main nation's about 3.1 billion now...
