Comrade mussolandia, I hope watching it with my mo -err, female almost-maternal caretaker and indoctrinator of right thinking when I was smaller is acceptable. I did not like Bull Durham too much, unfortunately. I suppose I simply did not take. Comrade Thorin, you left out Rookie of the Year, The Rookie, The Bad News Bears, The Bad News Bears go to Japan, and A League of Their Own. Surely these are nice films as well? Field of Dreams is an absolute classic and is regularly shown to all collective farms in Mammothistan to inspire them to plow harder for the state. You are absolutely correct, Comrade (I loved Bull Durham more after I actually lived near Durham). I also own all of those movies you mentioned. I noticed that Rookie of the Year was on cable over the weekend as well! I think that is a good use of Field Of Dreams that you have there in your nation. I might apply that use as well!

Do you remember the scene where the kids are at the player's entrance at Wrigley Field? When I watch it this weekend I thought it was the funniest thing I had seen all day.

I really like the movie "Reversal of Fortune." Uh, and "Kill Bill vol. 1 & 2." And "Resevoir Dogs." And Citizen Kane.
Oh, and the movie "The Manchurian Candidate," which is about an American brainwashed by communists who goes on to run for president. Good stuff.

This evening I watched Dr. Zhivago. It was first time for myself to watch this movie. Later this evening I hope to watch Lawrence of Arabia. It will be my second time to see this movie, although the first to see the beginning.

It's true though. I was expecting so much more from Volume 2. I came out feeling very unsatisfied.

It's true though. I was expecting so much more from Volume 2. I came out feeling very unsatisfied. I know what you mean, but since the movies were, when made, supposed to be seen as one thing start to finish, maybe Vol.2 might not seem so bad if it was seen straight through with Vol. 1.

I prefer some of the older movies. Older movies are geared to smarter people. The actors don't have to announce what they are going to do or why. It was assumed the audience was intelligent enough to understand.
I am a big fan of the Black & White classic "To Kill a Mockingbird". Not only is it a great movie, it was Robert Duvall's acting debut. (He played Boo Radley). The imagery from the trial is amazing; you must view it several times to catch all the inuendo and nuance.
If you are interested in testing what I have said regarding intelligence factors of the audience, watch "the B&W version of "12 Angry Men" (with Henry Fonda) then follow it with the updated Jack Lemmon version. Let me know what you think.
