I've actually seen a website where physics students were trying to prove whether an unladen African swallow could carry a coconut. ;D i got to to see this (maybe a new thread for it?) another good movie is all quiet on the western front.

lol, that film reminds me of doing English at school. In the end they had to cancel the paper we were supposed to do on it, because for the first time in the courses history, NONE of us could stand the film and refused to watch it!

While I was unaware of the meaning of the term "laden" (and I thank you for clearing it up), I must add that in terms of the experiment, your correction is irrelevant. The bird has got to pick up the coconut before it can carry it, thus being "unladen" before being "laden".

Are there any fellow fans of baseball movies here in our region?

Indeed. I am a fan of many baseball movies.
A Field of Dreams Bull Durham, etc.
I was going to add Dead Poet's Society to this list as well, in terms of a general favorite movie.

I really enjoyed The Natural. It is one of those movies you have to watch with your dad when you are young.
Personally, I find baseball boring. But then, baseball is not very popular down here. I am a rabid soccer fan. Yet there have not been good movies about soccer (I think there was one with those damned Olsen twins in it).

Comrade mussolandia, I hope watching it with my mo -err, female almost-maternal caretaker and indoctrinator of right thinking when I was smaller is acceptable.
I did not like Bull Durham too much, unfortunately. I suppose I simply did not take.
Comrade Thorin, you left out Rookie of the Year, The Rookie, The Bad News Bears, The Bad News Bears go to Japan, and A League of Their Own. Surely these are nice films as well?
Field of Dreams is an absolute classic and is regularly shown to all collective farms in Mammothistan to inspire them to plow harder for the state.

I'd like to add Ronin to this list of films. Great car chases.

Oh car chases! The Peacemaker has a good one. Taxi, the French one is good for car chases too.
