Greetings esteemed members of the New Pacific Order.
While we have been active for some time we have only recently decided to become more active in the internal politics of the NPO.
We congratulate the NPO leaders on their firm leadership in these days of weak liberal 'democracy'.
May the light of the Shining One shine on you all,
Cardinal Poobar, Spiritual Guider of the Church of the Shining One and Temporary Executive of the Theocracy of the Holy Word.

Welcome Holy Word. Feel free to browse about. You might wish to dim the light in areas, some people are rather sunlight sensitive here.

Is that a reference to 'holy light?'

Is that a reference to 'holy light?' Indeed. The divine light that gives us both warmth and the divine fire that purifies the impure.

That all depends on which side of the shadow you prefer.

You'd have gotten on well with The Godly El Sabah Nur. Although I'm not sure this single board could have taken 2 messiahs.

In the absence of The Godly El Sabah Nur, would you please elaborate on your national beliefs Holy Word? I have knowlege of only one messiah and His name hasn't yet been mentioned in this thread.

The Church of the Shining One, is the Theocracy of the Holy Word's state (and only legal religion). Essentially set up in the 16th Century by a hardline breakaway group from the Catholic Church, the Church of the Shining One wishes to get back to what they see as the values of the medieval church. (The Shining One is a term they use reguarly for Jesus). Feel free to ask if you want me to make up more historical details.

I'd be interested to see how you get along with Lactating Nuns or Nur for that matter.

What are the values of the medieval church --- as you see them? Please elaborate. Couple of main points. 1. The abandoment of theological relativism. The Church of the Holy Word is right. Other Christian denominations are half right. All others are godless heathens. 2. Church infallibility. (That's different then the Papal infallibility). In a nutshell, Church of the Holy Word doesn't make mistakes. EVER. 3. A modernisation of the divine right of kings. Essentially, all godly nations are ruled with the blessing of the Shining One. So going against the state is not only treason, but blasphemy as well. (This is further complicated by the fact that the president of the Holy Word was recently deposed by the church, after trying to bring in moderate political reforms. Cardinal Poobar, head of the church, has taken temporary executive power until the country gets back on the right track). 4. Absolute intolerance of heresy of any kind. (Cardinal Poobar is on record as saying that many of the problems the church faced in medieval church could have been avoided if Martin Luther had been nailed to a door instead of his proclamation.) A new Inquisition has been recently founded to enforce this policy. 5. A mistrust of science. This is more controversial, as there are two main factions within the church. The "Traditionalists" are very suspicious of science, and have called for a purge of those carrying out "unholy" research. The "Modernists" believe that the church should fund the arts and sciences, and guide scientists, so as to carry out research for the glory of the church. With the rise of Cardinal Poobar and the founding of the Inquisition, the Traditionalists would seem to be in the stronger position. OOC: So, it's a mix of the medieval church and Prattchet's Church of Omnia pre reformation. Sue me.
