Today's issue for our communal puppet, everyone please feel free to lodge your vote and participate in the debate. (Dilemma #108) - "Gambling Interests Offer High Stakes" The IssueIn light of The New Pacific Order's ban on gambling, people ranging from angry homemakers to allegedly legitimate businessmen have been argueing incessantly about whether or not banning casinos was a good idea. The Debate- Option 1: "We are highly distressed at your decision to revoke our casino licences," says FamilyCorp. Representative "Fat Tony" Roxanne Longbottom, while sipping a glass of fine wine. "If the ban were to be revoked, think of all the money you could get from your cut of the profit. In addition, it would help ensure the safety of assorted members of The New Pacific Order's government. I think this is an offer that you should not refuse."
- Option 2: "These casinos cannot be allowed to reopen!" says mother and homemaker Charles McGuffin. "Remember what happened last time? People get out of control and lose their life's savings! Just say no to these so-called legitimate businesses! And crack down on the rest of organized crime while you're at it."
- Option 3: "There is a solution to this problem" says Native The New Pacific Orderite chief Dances-with-Pacific seagulls. "You could let us front the casinos as payback for stealing our land, and we'll enforce age limits and pay some tax on the income these casinos generate. Just think of the jobs it could create for us, and the boost to the economy!"

I don't know if I even should keep apologizing for the delay in getting issues out when the delay is so consistent Well, this is an issue I feel rather strongly about in RL. My dad gambled most of our money away when I was six or seven and my parents were really close to a divorce when he finally stopped gambling. So, in my highly biased opinion, gambling = evil. And the horrible third issue here, give casinos to Native New Pacific Orderites, simply because casinos aren' t allowed off the reservations, so does not work out in RL. There are a lot of casinos around where I live, and all the tribes pretty muchly live off of them. They take money from white trash and buy three cars for every family. Something's wrong with this picture.

Well I'm the opposite in the way that when I was 6 or 7 my dad won a load of money on the pools and it doubled the size of our house. Well, that and our university slot machine is easy to win and I get all my lunch money out of it. However, in saying that, a lot of my friends have lost a lot of money and it is clearly a force or evil.
However, in the name of taking us out of a corrupt dictatorship, I will be voting option 1. For the greater good.

im all for taking us out of a dictatorship, but corporate police state is my aim, so for the moment anything that increases police spending gets my vote.

In reality casinos actually do little to help the reservations.
I vote for option #2 to further eliminate our nonexistent crime levels.

Being in the service of the gambling industry, I choose option one.

I say, option one all the way. I fully support business, and it will boost the economy.

Perhaps. It is going to be a "legitimate business" so probably has a built in increase in crime. This will harm the economy. Im not sure the net gain in the economy is worth it.

I chose to ban gambling when I had "Frightening" economy rating. The rating dropped one step. So I chose option 1 on this issue and the former rating returned. So, I think this issue has quite a big impact on the economy rating, even if the outcome of choosing Option 1 is "the mob has paid off the government to allow casinos to reopen"-in accordance with our unfortunate government style.
I do think gambling is evil, Tar A, but so are so other addictions. If you ban gambling, you should ban alcohol and cigarettes (the latter I am all for). It is quite difficult to know when to draw the line on these issues.
