Today's issue for our communal puppet, everyone please feel free to lodge your vote and participate in the debate. (Dilemma #21) - "Police Consider 'Big Brother' Anti-Crime System" The IssueThe Police department is considering installing surveillance cameras in all major public areas, in an effort to crack down on crime. The Debate- Option 1: "This is a blatant invasion of the right to privacy!" says libertarian web site operator Melbourne Trax. "Now I can't even go out in public any more without being watched? And you know this is just the beginning. Today there are cameras in city streets. Tomorrow they're peering through your bedroom window."
- Option 2: "Hey, I've got news for you," says Police media liaison Max Dredd. "When you're out in public, PEOPLE CAN SEE YOU. These cameras will be extremely helpful in reducing the national crime rate. Frankly, I can't see what the fuss is about."
- Option 3: "This 'slippery slope' argument has got me thinking," says Police Minister Klaus Spirit. "You know, it would be a lot easier to fight crime if we watched people all the time. Not with cameras, of course. That's clearly an invasion of privacy. But how about a national database of our citizens, coupled with compulsory ID cards and barcoding? It would stop crime dead in its tracks."

Option 3 - I have no tolerance for those that operate against the law. Besides, with the rage of tattoos, we can all get one

I selected Option #2. At least with this option the majority of the population will still "think" they are free...

Jewish people can't be burried in the Jewish cemetery if they have tattoos. Since all the jews didn't die in the explosion of Oklahoma, we should probably respect the wishes of the survivors. Go with Option 2.

I vote option one. Unless you have a high crime rate, this issue is better left to option 1, or dismissed. However, if your crime rate is not to your liking, vote for 2, and it will lower a couple, chosing 3 will nearly stop it in its tracks, but we kill civil rights. You just have to way what you value more.

Go with Option 2. *snickers* I'd forgotten about that thread. Good times. I went with Option 1, how would you feel if your government put up cameras everywhere, nevermind that private companies do it all the time
