I dont know if this is somewhere else in the forum and I couldn't find it, but my nation is Democratic Americans and I am new in the region. However, I would still like to get involved in the region. Could someone explain how everything works around here please?

Well, you don't have to take an exam or anything. Pretty much you just come on in and post. Some important holidays to remember in the Pacific are the Day of Pacific Triumph, which is the 8th of every month and is celebrated through the 10th, and the 28th of each month which is the Day of Pacific Revolution. The Day of Pacific Triumph is the the day we won the battle against an invader using 125 UN-multis. The Day of Pacific Revolution is the day the NPO came to power (now in the fourth month). Hey! I just realized we didin't have a celebration for Day of Pacific Triumph this month ! . Either that, or I missed it. We also have a nation called the New Pacific Order, which we all help shape. Francos posts the issue of the day and we all cast our votes. There hasn't been an issue for the last few days, though, for some odd reason. There's also a thread in the Senate forum, where we propose new issues to submit to NationStates, though it's kind of stagnated in the last week or so. In the High Court forum you will find a thread to report nations with obscene names and other shady characters and help keep our Pacific clean. In case you've noticed some forummer's titles, this is how you become a Legion. If you want to get involved in government, there's a thread about this here ( link). I don't think I can top Sir Paul's speach, so I won't even try. That's all I can think of now, I'm a bit tired, so I hope this all makes sense . And welcome to the Pacific!

Looking at the Roman setup of these forums, I think doing as the less powerfull Romans did when they wanted more influence is the best way to go at it.
A roman citizen sought out a like-minded senator , and then supported him, thus ensuring more power to this senator. The senator in return , if he did well and grew into power, heightened the status of the supporting people.
Support came as lowly as shooting out once support to the senator every morning as he passed on his way to the senate, up to other senators backing a highly respected member.
In our community, I'd exspect that for instance ratting on a disobedient country to BertramStantrous , head of the secret police, would support him in his task, and he in return would look favourably on you, thus giving you a bit more power on the road to becoming a senator yourself.

Perhaps you are correct, but I feel what is even more important is that all nations are involved to assist the government in total. We should help by watching out for subversive nations and violators of the civil code. This is difficult for the senators themselves to do for us; we must all do our part to ensure that the vision of the NPO will continue to burgeon. Also, you can become an NPO Legion by watching out for nations who are in violation of the Civil Code and reporting them. This helps keep our region stable and maintains order. I think these are the things that the good citizens can do to become involved in the region.

Well, in a sense, becoming part of the Legion is a first step towards greater power inside this community, is it not?
But assisting the government in total, this is impossible. Your efforts would be widespread, but limited due to the enormous task you'ld put on yourself. Its far better to specialise into a topic that interests you, and help out the responsible senator. Surely we have enough people here so that every Senator would be able to keep a few supporters around him.
This system will help the senator, because you're better at the particular job, then you wouldve been if you try to take on all tasks. And this system will help you, as your efforts are far more likely to be noticed if you focus on 1 senator.
It would seem to me that only if you aim for Franco's job, heh, would you need a broad and complete knowledge of everything that goes on in and outside of the pacific...

Funny you should say that, I just happen to be visiting your home town......
anyway, how did we get so unbelievably off the point? That wasn't exactly the first thing that came to my mind in a thread about serving the NPO, this isn't that close to real politics yet.

Thanks for the warm welcome, everybody. I think I will make my first goal to help keep our region clean and protect it from invaders. I am going to work on that now, hopefully I can get the title of Legion. Thanks again.
