(Dilemma #33) - "Genetics Brings New Life to Extinct Species" The IssueScientists have announced they are close to a breakthrough in their quest to revive the feather-bellied Pacific seagull, a species related to The New Pacific Order's national animal that has been extinct for more than a century. The Debate- Option 1: "I, for one, applaud their work," says scientist Pip Wong. "And not just because I'm the project leader. This is an example of how The New Pacific Order's brains can mix it with the world's best. Can you imagine how wonderful it will be to have feather-bellied Pacific seagulls frolicking in the meadows again? I say full steam ahead, and more government funding!"
- Option 2: "This is a sacriledge!", says religious leader Hope Longfellow. "These animals are extinct because God wants them dead. Cloning them would merely incur his wrath! If we proceed down this path, it'll be humans, not the feather-bellied Pacific seagull, who will be extinct."
- Option 3: "Now, come on," says Stephanie Mombota, well-known philosopher. "You don't need to be religious to be unnerved by the top of this particular slippery slope. Today it's Pacific seagulls, tomorrow it's dinosaurs, and we all know how that turns out. This research shouldn't be banned, but there must be strict government controls over its use."

Woohoo! Option one, baby! Take that, Christian "morality!"
And only the possibility of sticking it to the church could elicit a "woohoo" and a "baby" from me. Those Nurian fanatics.

But just think of all the little cloned Bishops running around! Oh the humanity! You'd be playing right into the churches dirty little hands.

Cloning is a very delicate subject, my friends I personally would choose Option 3. I would draw the line when human embryos are involved. In experimental cloning, as well as in-vitro fertilization, several embryos are killed before one is chosen. This effectively constitutes assassination. With regards to the church... oh you dirty heathens!

I agree with the Duce. At least, in part. Option 3. Only the government could wisely decide which species to revive. Although, we couldn't know for sure how Wooly Mammoth tastes without creating a few first. . .

Hmmm...
My friend Poskrebyshev, you do know that in Italy people eat wild pigs as a common entree. So it is quite a good suggestion.

Ever wondered what Triceratops tasted like? I pick Option three. I don't want a Tyranosaur finding out what Homo Sapiens tastes like.

So boring, you people are. Dinosaurs would be fun. We might have a few running around Tar A. I mean, why spend money on prisons or rehabilitation if you have hungry dinosaurs in your country?

Is it just me, or did we get a higher voter turnout on this issue than usual?
Has anyone heard about the dinosaurs that supposedly live deep in Africa?
