I wonder if it might be useful to have official greeters in the Pacific. These people don't have to be given titular honors, but it might be useful if someone from the Senate sent lists of new nations to supporters of the region. These supporters could contact the new nations, encourage them to post on our boards, caution them about spam, welcome them to the Pacific, give them some tips about discussion styles and uses of the HQ board, give them a head's up about the UN, and ask them to start thinking about endorsing our current delegate.
I believe this process will effectively end criticism of Francos' solicitation of endorsements as "endorsement swapping." It is also a positive PR campaign that certainly can't hurt the way our region is viewed. It also gives new nations immediate contact with a region supporter that can be a stallwort defender of the NPO.
I bring this suggestion up because I am wary of a nation having immediate and direct contact from Francos himself asking for an endorsement. We do not want our delegate to be accused of endorsement swapping.
Thoughts? Civil discussion and debate welcome!

Apparently Francos does telegram new nations who recently joined the UN in the Pacific asking for their endorsements. I don't know personally, I endorsed him as soon as I joined the UN, but that's what I've heard anyway.

Hmm... maybe...
As long as we didn't accidentally hire spies to do the job. They'd probably send telegrams to people saying "don't endorse Francos!" or something like that.
Of course, we would catch them, but why create more trouble when we don't need to?

Yeah, but at least now we don't have to sanction them.

Bertram Stantrous, you are the most paranoid guy I've ever met. Is it the marijuana, or just something innate? Open up the government to people! Let them participate in this glorious government. If we harness the power, will, and energy of the Pacificans, we can have a region beyond reproach. Empower the Pacificans, they will surprise you.

I'm thinking on two fronts here. Turn open regions supporters loose on the Pacific. Let's give new nations the chance to join us here. Welcome them in. Inclusion is a fast way to gain a strong base. It also brings people into the fold quicker - My you have a big secret police here, said the new nation - all the more easy to examine them with, said the big bad wolf . We welcome them. Prove we're not that bad. We get a first hand look at nations that might be problems down the road. Secondly, it shields Francos from criticism. That's always a good thing.

I know you wrote this for Bertram, but my personal feeling is that there are too many people trying to get into the Pacific to try and ruin our way of life. I thank our leadership for caring enough for us to be paranoid. As for those of us outside of the government, it would do us all good to watch the boards and our t-grams and see who is trying to move into our region. We should do our part to report these events to our leadership so that the traitors can be summarily dealt with. Again, a little paranoia is useful for all of us here in the Pacific, in my humble opinion.

The secret police has never let the NPO down. I have faith and confidence in you and your collegues that you will choose only true supporters of the NPO, but your choices will also reflect the diversity that we have in the pacific.

And I bring us back to topic - should we have official greeters in the Pacific?

Abysseria, my friend, a superb idea. and one that I would certainly support 100%.
I have inquired about extending my services in or out of the Senate to Francos several times now, with no response (negative or positive). This is perhaps where I could best serve the region and the NPO.
I would be more then happy to assist in this venture if asked and if I have not shown my dedication to the region, the current delegate and his respective Administration, by now then I don't see how I can do so further.
Again. Great idea Abysseria. One I hope Francos considers.

You know, now that the regional happenings display nation foundings, this idea would be much more feasible. Perhaps we could come up with a welcoming message including a description of NS, our region, its government, and throw in a link to the forum (perhaps directly to our FAQ).
If only as a counter-measure, even. I haven't created any new puppets lately, but I'd imagine that there is a heap of regional advertisers inundating new nations with recruitment ads. We need to ensure we can retain the positive minds which might otherwise unthinkingly depart for less green pastures.

This hapless 'n00b' thinks you should include a copy of the civil code.

Good Idea, Democracy and Freedoms! That way, they can be clear on the rules of the Pacific and understand that the government is acting in their best interests.
