Since political freedoms in my country are rare I've been looking for a way to increase that parameter. I am now faced with an issure I've never seen before, but I fear negative unexpected consequences, as so often happens.
Inhabitants of a remote region of my country are requesting semi-autonomous status. The only known consequence is that it would result in increased taxes to support the increased number of politicians on the dole.
I'm also currently a Father Knows Best State, something I did not want, but was an unexpected consequence of another decistion. I invite commentary to guide me in the decision making process. Would it be a mistake to grant semi-autonomy to this remote region, or would it be a net gain? I thank you in advance for any help you may render.

If you want to raise your political freedoms, grant them autonomy.

Not true. It depends on what calculator you use. Also, if your going to be realistic, the happier a populace is the more willing it is to fight.
