Neat!
I had spiders when I was 9 or so. Caught them in the basement and fed them hamburger meat ;D They lasted for a good few weeks, though. And I had lizards that ate only live crickets; those were fun.

I had a bird once, and I have a fish currently, although it's with my roommate right now and not me. I'd like a cat, (Francos has some very adorable kitties , maybe I should post them here) but I don't even like dogs. And insects? *shudders*

Did anyone hear about those fish they genetically modified toglow red?I'll see if I can find a link or something. I had fish lay eggs for me, but I didn't know it. I moved the fish into a different tank and kept putting off cleaning the old one. When I went to clean it there were about 15 little things swimming around. My little brother has them now. Spiders....erg! I HATE spiders. I hate them with the white hot intensity of ten-thousand burning suns. I have two kitties of my own, Ulysses and Shiloh and they are SO adorable . I have had dogs in the past, but my one room shanty apartment that I currently have is too small for me to own a dog. So be it!

Cool - I bought a mantis eggsack from a gardening center a couple of years ago, put it out in the garden and waited. It hatched and the thing swarmed with the little monsters - until a wasp came down and started slurping them up. After I batted it away most of the hatchlings had disappeared (either eaten or knocked off into the brush). I spotted several, somewhat grown, over the summer, but finally they vanished. So yours hatched in the daytime? Hrm. Francos has some very adorable kitties I knew I was going to regret that. Spiders are cool. They eat mosquitos. Mosquitos are WAY worse than spiders. Yep, same with mantises. It's all about pest control.

I knew I was going to regret that. I still don't see how you could prefer posting pictures of insects to kitties. And hey, I didn't put them up here, did I? Nothing to regret...... yet.

I have no problem with pest control, folks. I'm in full support for it. Give me a couple of bats near my apartment/house, and I'm in heaven. I do love bats, so that has to count for something, doesn't it?
Origin of my hate for spiders:
When I was a kid - we're talking 2 or 3 years old here - I was standing/teetering about six inches from these windows that were next to our front door. I turned my head to look out the window and came face to face with an enormous wood spider. Needless to say, it's a good thing I had my Huggies on.
Spiders and I haven't gotten along since.
Bats, though, bats are wicked cool.

When I was in the Army I had some cool fish. I had two Oscars and two Pakus (fresh water Pirahna). The Pakus were almost like cats in that everytime I put my hand in the tank (50 gallons), the fish would rub themselves against my hand like a cat. They also used to love eating cheeseballs and pizza!

It was probably overnight - it was early morning when I noticed (it had become a ritual - get up, cloths, check the garden for mantids, breakfast, etc...). The wasp did freak me out and it wanted those hatchlings bad - I'm not normally squeamish but seeing it eat those things; yuck. I hate spider too; in high school I worked for the local Gas Company, cleaning meters - and the dang things were infested with black widows! I just couldn't bring myself to go along with the sport of my coworkers - catching them and putting them in bottles to fight. I consoled myself by placing snails on the machinery controls - the metal guard was just the right diameter and height to keep the snail on top of the button and somewhat hidden. Go to turn on the machine and CRUNCH/SQUISH - like I said, I'm not normally squeamish
