Today's issue for our communal puppet, everyone please feel free to lodge your vote and participate in the debate. (Dilemma #093) - "Affirmative Action in The New Pacific Order?" The IssueAfter a recent high-profile case of a minority student being refused admission to a traditional, prestigous college, civil rights activists, conservatives, and teachers are up in arms about affirmative action and ethnic equality in education. The Debate- Option 1: "This is just another attempt to discriminate against people of color," declares civil-rights activist, former TV commentator and unabashed publicity speaker Klaus Silk. "If people are disadvantaged in their upbringing they they should be given an 'equal' chance to succeed in college."
- Option 2: "The affirmative action programs aren't necessary at all." Rejoins conservative speaker and hair care product salesman Hack Christmas. "If you really want to treat everyone equally, as you claim, how can you support special treatment for a few so-called minority groups? Besides, it would cost even more money to enforce."
- Option 3: "I think you are both looney," says Roxanne Mistletoe, professor of liberal arts at The New Pacific Order National University. "All education should be open to everyone regardless of their grades in high school, economic status or academic prowess. Free college education should be available to every citizen of The New Pacific Order, no matter what the cost!"

I've recently been accepted to UCLA's masters program in Urban Planning. There are about 450 scholarships that people of this Major are qualified for. After you factor in the part that I am not Black, gay, female, Native American, Armenian, bi-sexual, transgendered, of divorced parents, Mexican, hispanic, Cuban, Canadian, Asian, etc. I am open to 8 scholarships, and all of those dealines have passed (I was accepted after the deadlines expired). Not that I'm bitter, I mean, it's fun being a white, straight, middle-class male, but I've had it up to HERE with people telling me that I get all the breaks. WHY CAN'T I GO TO SCHOOL WITHOUT GOING $50,000 into DEBT? I have no problem with giving those who can't afford college aid, but why am I left out just because I don't have Bertram Statrous's orientation? (j/k) I'm sick of diversity. I've been the minority my whole life. My high school was 73% Hispanic, my summer program was 52% Black, 33% Hispanic. My undergraduate school was 62% Female, and is considered a "Hispanic Serving Institution." The President of the University added an accent mark to his name when he took office. Thomas became Toe-MAS. *sigh* All the liabilities of being a minority, none of the benifits. Que Lastima. Well, I gotta finish my flautas, go get my Crip-Walking boots, and get down to the only gay club in town. If I'm seen there enough, I might be eligable for some money.
Vote option II.
EDIT: Spelling (I went to an inner-city public school, sorry)

I also disagree with the reverse racism that is AA. People should be awarded positions on merit, not ethnicity.
