It turns Corinthe (a.k.a. HideOut) may not be as pro-freedom as she claims. Recently she regained the delegacy of Monte Carlo after a well-publicized forum battle. So is she really the freedom-lover she claims to be? Apparently not. As delegate she has outlawed endorsement swapping and placed Monte Carlo under martial law. The following is an excerpt from HideOut's post in the Civil HQ:
Apparently Corinthe's talk freedom is nothing more than talk.
And she wonders why Francos won't let her be delegate...

Corinthe has informed me it will be staying in a state of martial law. Apparently she wishes to be the Mistress of the manor. I wonder if she can appreciate the irony? No matter. Was amusing to see her bounce the ACC on their arses. Amusing to see her lose it in the forums too though. Aw hell, fun time all around.

There are only 2 people in all of history that have fought for freedom and truly kept their word. 6 Points to whomever can name them.

Wait, by "kept their word," do you mean "succeeded," or do you mean they " didn't stray from their path, even if they failed?"
If this is some damn religious question with an answer like "Jesus and Moses," I'm going to be pissed off.

When I say "Kept their word" I meant that they kept their word to give up the power and let the people be free. Who, in the history of the world, had all of the power in their hands, and then returned it willingly?
P.S. I'm talking about the secular political powers here.

Hmm, I seem to remember soething about George Washington turning down the kingship, though I don't know if that's one of those historical urban legends.
Um, there was some Spanish king that decided make Spain a democracy instead of a monarchy, though I can't think of his name.

Ramoth got the first one! 3 points to you!
Washington was offered kingship of the United States, and turned it down. After Yorktown, George III vowed to keep fighting. When parliament demurred, the King wrote a letter of abdication -- then withdrew it. He tried to console himself with the thought that Washington would become a dictator and make the Americans long for royal rule. When he was told that Washington planned to resign his commission, the monarch gasped: "If he does that, sir, he will be the greatest man in the world."
There's one more man who had it all, and then gave it back.
Oh, come on Black Adder, Cromwell? He became a dictator, albeit after parlement kept messing up, and he did a pretty good job, but a dictator none the less.
