Nah, actually my students know what's going on the exam. No surprises!

How about this one? For my class today I'm taking my students to my apartment where we're going to have class over a couple of pizzas and some soda? That being said, I'm procrastinating and not doing work to prepare for class...

you teach where, and what? I'm at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Right now, I'm working with the history department, even though I'm a doctoral student in Urban Studies (I'm studying urban crime).

Not that I'm insinuating you're of that vein. Being an employer we're always gun shy about being in potential situations that could be turned litigious by someone with an imagination and a lawyer.

Black Adder is right. My good friend is a high school teacher, and he always has another teacher nearby if he holds a detention with only one student - they all do that. It's a crappy world out there.
I'd also be nervous about having students in my apartment just from a privacy standpoint, but I tend to be a very private person in general.

Being an employer we're always gun shy about being in potential situations that could be turned litigious by someone with an imagination and a lawyer. I teach at a liberal arts college where the concern of age isn't an issue. Also, there is no chance for one on one contact with any student - there will ALWAYS be someone else around (including my wife . We have guidelines, but professors and advisors have their students over for dinner and discussions quite frequently, as long as someone else not affiliated with the school is present and you aren't in a one on one situation with a student. So, that being said, no worries - oh, and I'm still procrastinating:)

I'm in the procrastination mode as well. Probably because I now have 88 essay tests to grade.

So why assign so many essays? Make deals with the good students to give them a reasonalble grade if they *don't* write it. They'll do good anyways, so why waste both of your time?

My eighth grade Honors Social Studies teacher invited her classes over to her house for a pool party at the end of the year. I dunno how she got away with it, like black said, but I remember crushing majorly on a guy in the class, and being WAY too shy to wear a bathing suit in front of him... so I ended up sitting around having no fun. Heehee.
Hey, that's my kind of deal. Think if I suggest it to my prof. tomorrow before the mid term, he'll work with me on it?

Great, ANOTHER teacher. You'd better be teaching political science, or I'm gonna be pissed.
