New to the Pacific? A lot of nations are. But did you know that not all nations are really suited to be in the Pacific? No, it takes a special kind of national leader; one who is not afraid to wait a little while and watch and learn. If you observe for just a bit you will notice …

[x] The Pacific isn’t about fighting wars or toppling delegates for the heck of it. There are other regions for those kinds of activities. About the only battles you will see fought here are battles of wit among disagreeing (but not necessarily disagreeable) nations. Our wars are fought with ideas and words.

[x] The Pacific isn’t about a group of 12 – 20 year-olds with a common obscure interest. Neither is it about role-playing characters from your favorite fad movie or book. There are other regions for those kinds of activities as well. No, the Pacific is a place where some of the best and brightest minds to be found in this world use their abilities to create an environment of intellectual stimulation. Our common interest is the exchange of ideas and how those ideas are presented.

There are three kinds of Pacificans: those that make things happen (the Elite), those that observe what happens (the Emerging Elite), and those that wonder what’s happening (all the rest). If you would like to be a member of the Elite society of the Pacific, consider doing the following:

In the GENERAL section, click on FAQ/N00B GUIDE. Take some time to read and learn.
It would also be worth your time to read the Civil Code of the Pacific. Register on the Pacific Forum and go to The HIGH COURT section. The Civil Code can be found inside.

To be sure, only a few nations are qualified to be Pacific residents. Do you think you have what it takes to be one of them? You are welcome to stay as long as you like here in the Pacific until you are ready to decide. If the Pacific isn’t for you, then make the move to another place. Find a region where you will get involved.

When you get right down to it, it’s all about involvement. Whether here or somewhere else --- it doesn’t matter. Find a place that’s right for you. If that place happens to be here in the Pacific, we’ll be waiting for you in the Forum.

Wow! My nation has been in existence every bit of two days now and no one is paying any attention. I know… I will make a cool threat on the HQ board. I’ll tell people things like ‘I rule this region’ and ‘Bow down to my power’. Or maybe I will insult them in an inimical, puerile fashion. By the day after tomorrow I’m sure I’ll be UN delegate --- that is --- if I can figure out how to join the UN.

We see these kinds of grandiose delusions every day; young n00bs crying out for attention and making empty claims. Here at Save the Newbies we attempt to redirect the energy of these young nations in a more positive direction. Won’t you help?

Every time you see a message from one of these misdirected souls, send a telegram asking their leader to switch to decaf. Don’t worry about telling them how to join the UN; they’ll figure it out eventually. Oh, and explain to them ‘inimical’ means ‘unfriendly’.

They’re probably just some 14-year olds with a rich emperor daddy who have nothing better to do than create nations with euphemistic names for body parts and bodily functions. Regional Ads-Writing 101 for Other-Region Advertisers:
A concise, (and complementary) How-To Guide from Chosen Men

So, you think your region is OMG, like rlly k00l!!!!!!!!!!11!!!11 and you want to advertise it. If you want to get your message out to the world, there are a few etiquette rules you should observe.

First: Describe the audience you want to reach. For example …
The region of Winney-T-Pooh is looking for some more little Piglets and Tiggers. If you are between the ages of 12 – 16 and love licking honey jars and going on adventures, then we are the region for you.

Second: Write your advertisement off-line in a word processor. Learn to use advanced features like Spell Check. Eevn thugoh msot poelpe wlil probably undrstnd ur ad wthout sepll chevk, thy wont tak it serrius. Unless your purpose is to be funny, it is best to look professional. And remember; short is better than long.

Third: Avoid n00b-ese; you know, that irritating keyboard diarrhea made popular by Instant Messenger and English-speaking persons who cannot write in English. OMG! Let the reader decide when to lol. BTW, !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! is a definite negative statement of seriousness. :0, J
Nothing needs that much attention.

After any corrections have been made, copy <Ctrl-C> and paste <Ctrl-V> your message from the word processor to YOUR regional message board.

Fourth: Test the ad in your home region before you spam the world. If it isn’t liked at home, it won’t be liked anywhere else, either. Don’t be afraid to accept constructive criticism (and expect negative criticism). If a suggestion makes sense, change the ad. Test it again.

So … there you have it. No region in the world enjoys seeing recruitment spam, but your message, when the above rules are followed, may … I said MAY … entice a few new members over to your region.

The Life Cycle of the Pacific n00b

Aaaaaahhhh! Near-Summer in the Pacific. Beautiful days filled with perpetual sunshine and tangy salt breezes …

Wait. What’s this? Some strange, exotic creature washed up from the depths of the sea? No, it’s a n00b. And there’s another. And another. They’re everywhere! Near-Summer must be the hatching season of the Pacific n00b.

For those of you unacquainted with the Pacific n00b, they are small and harmless. They come with all manner of mottos and all colors of flags. Most of the male n00bs can be recognized by the over-active regard for themselves and their under-active imagination. The females are usually more creative and colorful, often frivolous.

Some n00bs will stay here in the Pacific and reach maturity while others are washed back out to sea only to be ‘washed up’ in another region. There goes one now. Bon voyage, n00b!

Easily overlooked by larger nations, n00bs can be quite irritating; especially the UN variety. These abase themselves running hither and fro along the beaches of the Pacific looking for endorsements and beggings for scraps of telegrams. Eventually some will become adept at endorsement trading and survive to maturity. Others will glut themselves on endorsements and become easy prey for larger, faster moving creatures.

Oooh! There’s a fat one. Look at all the endorsements he dragging along. He’s a goner for sure!

Once somewhat mature, some n00bs will jump back into the sea and swim to other regions on their own looking for new lands to conquer and new endorsements to beg. But by then, another generation of n00bs will hatch to start the cycle all over again.

I also was wondering if the High Court was the best place for this thread.

I think that what you are doing is actually wonderful in that it is educational and funny all at once.

I think most noobs won't see it here as they will probably not want to start off checking out a forum called "The High Court" right away.

Just a thought.

BTW, I really like the ones on writing style and motto/names etc. All your PSAs are truly inspired but those are at the top of the list.

The re-education of high ranking members of F.R.I.E.N.D.S. and BORE have been successful. As such, both will be granted Authorized Mass Media Outlet (AMMO) status. Both organizations have the blessing of the New Pacific Order to continue to broadcast their messages to the n00bs and citizenry of the Pacific. Their AMMO status allows them to submit information and news directly to the people, via the HQ, the Forums, or even external media outlets (SeattleNews, NBC, the other guy, etc.). The NPO looks forward to seeing what these two organizations will do to lighten the dark, ignorant places in the future.
