The NPO has in effect been an intellectual revolution. Seeing as how we've managed to pool some of the best minds in NationStates, I believe it would be a grand gesture for us to put our thoughts together and work as a region to come up with a brilliant daily issue for NationStates. Since we will all be contributing, making it impossible for a single nation to take credit, I've created a nation which represents us all to submit the issue when it is completed, having the extra effect of letting nations who receive the issue, should it be accepted, to see the wonderous things those in the NPO are accomplishing. What do you say? Can we work as one to come with the greatest, coolest, bestest, most interestingest, über awesomest, (insert grammatically incorrect superlative here) issue to share with all players in the game? I open the forum to any ideas for a topic.

Here are a couple links which may be helpful: Issue Submission GuidelinesList of All Current NS Daily IssuesAnd in case anyone is wondering, I put this thread under the Senate board so that it would only be visable to those logged in, thus not spoiling the surprise when our issue is published for our guest visitors (which we seem to have a lot of).

A brilliant idea - I fully support it! Shall we just start proposing ideas for issues and debate them here?

All right, I say first we throw around a few general ideas for an issue. Then we finalize the issue description. Then I guess a bunch of us come up with options for the issue and we pick out the best ones and fiddle with them from there until we've got a coherent, amusing, interesting issue.
Let's see, what sort of topic could our issue be about? Military, social, religious, scientific, etc. Perhaps something about new weaponry, granting a strange right/outlawing a basic one, banning religious iconography, researching electric/flying cars, or something of that nature.

I'd like to see something relevant to the situation... everyone who is anyone in NS has heard of us (or maybe I just have a big head) and it would be funny to see how people react. Although, the best topics I come up with seem to be mocking us rather than the detractors. I'll keep thinking

We should start out with something fairly neutral (in the real world). How about something Christmasish like:
On Christmas Eve a man who identifies himself as "Khris Kringle" was arrested for breaking and entering through the chimney of a house while the owner was sleeping.
"This goes to show how deluded our society has become," says Citizens for Firmly Rooted Reality spokesperson, E. B. Scrooge, "We need to outlaw Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny too for that matter"
The citizens of Whoville have organized a protest and have begun passing out "I Believe" pins, bumper stickers, and yard signs. "Free Santa Claus!" shouts CindyLou Who "Don't be a grinch, make Christmas year-round!"
"This Khris Kringle clearly has a case of severe delusion, basically causing him to believe he is a mythical character" says Dr. Sebastian Palvovich of the {Nation} Psychiatric Association "It is possible to treat such cases, but it will require more funding."

"He must be a communist!" says your Head of Military @@name@@. "His kind should be rooted out and deported to camps, if they're not shot at sight at least!"
Or some such option. I leave this for others to change.

Ramoth, that is good. You should submit it.

I'm trying to come up with an issue similar to the movie Soylent Green, eg. for nations with high population to decide whether they start to eat their dead or not. ;D Need some help though.

Neo - read the rest of the thread - we're working on issues together - why don't you help by assisting with us?
For the proposed issue: "Yet another example of a Holy Day being perverted and debased by commercialism," says your religious advisor, Cardinal Arinze. "Our nation must not permit this pagan tradition to continue poisoning our people. Imprison Kringle and return Christmas to us as it was meant to be - the birth of our Lord"

I think Ramoth's is good as is, just needs the right syntax and the effects: option 1 could be: citizens can be jailed for wearing a Santa Claus costume. option 2 could be: Christmas is now a year long celebration option 3 could be: children are sent to psychiatrists for believing in Santa (stats increase in spending on Health).
Really, the person who comes up with the original idea should be the one to submit so that their nation is the author.

Neo - the purpose of this thread is to develop issues that our regional puppet nation (see the link in Francos starting message to this thread) will post. This is to bring the Pacific to the people, not to gain individual credit.

Lets get back to the issue at hand then instead of filling up yet another thread with useless arguements. option 1 could maybe have a small reduction to civil rights.

If we did a Christmas related issue, we'd have to word is such that it could be used year round, as we're clearly not going to get it in to them and programmed into the game for this Christmas.
I actually rather liked Neo Dystopia's Soylent Green suggestion. Of course, it would have to be worded very playfully and carefully. Although I think there's already a player created issue about overpopulation...
EDIT: Indeed, issue #68 is "Ornery Overcrowding Problem."
