Not to be a stickler, but technically we do not have to follow the rulings of the court. The constitution does not require us to abide by their rulings. They took that right upon themselves in the Miranda case, I believe. Really? That's interesting. My history prof in school called it an impeachable act. Always thought a Supreme Court ruling *had* to be "executed" by the executive branch. Now it turns out to be a "serving suggestion." <mild shock> Then what comes of the "Under God" debate there now will be interesting if those words are "judged" to be "prayer and ordered to be removed from the pledge. Oh, and who ever posted about "Enders Game" Yes that was an awesome and engaging book.

That's why I think this debate on under God is so intriguing. Chances are, if the court rules against the government states and school boards will have to decide whether or not to keep the phrase.
Myself? I think it's one more step down a secularized society more concerned with not offending anyone rather than upholding morality.
That being said, a great book to read is The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran. It's not a Christian book at all, in fact it's a fictional work, but a great piece on morality.

Youve read the Prophet? Its on my list of books to get around to. It was recomended to me by the same person who recomended I read Paulo Cuelho. I think they might be simialar since the books Ive read of his are fictional morality tales aswell, maybe you should check him out.
Has anyone read the other books in the Ender saga? There a good bit different but you'd like them if you have read the first.

I read them. The original is the best, I think, but the others are indeed quite good.

I saw the play version of Godot.
I preferred the rest of the series. Enders Game and the Bean Saga were pretty simialar but the other books were more thought provoking.

That would be impressive. In fact, reading The Art of War in gaelic would be even more so!
